don’t sress over 6th grade

Coming into 6th grade seems really scary. Believe me I went through the same emotions you are. Once you get up here meet all the teachers and make a good impression, it’s not all that hard.

My advice for you are to try to stay out of drama but if you don’t do not let it get to your head also the work is more advanced so don’t stress over one bad grade.

We all know that drama follows you from elementary school. Middle school drama is not that different from drama at your school. But one thing is don’t let what people say affect you. It’s hard sometimes, but if you let what people say mess with your emotions, you end up having a bad day, a bad week, even a bad month. Just know that you are better than any drama that comes to you. Just make sure you remember that.

Also, there is work that is hard here in 6th grade and if you fail on a daily grade or a test grade, it is not a huge deal. It may seem like it then, but really it’s not. One failing grade does not change how smart you are, how good you are at a subject or really anything. The only thing it changes is your average ( which you can get back up ) but the only really truly hard thing in 6th grade for me is Coach Terrys class, because it involves a lot of studying. But if you make sure you study hard and you know everything on the chapter tests or word walls, everything is easy and you will probably get a 100 in his class.

But everything dies down, there are less projects and less tests. But go through middle school with confidence and everything will be just fine.Take my advice and apply it because there will be a time when you will need it! School work is one grade on one day. In the future you will not be really upset because of that one failing test grade that you had in 6th grade so don’t sweat it now. Sixth grade is not that hard and it’s really going to turn out fine in the end.

Lets get Texas Lakes back!

Invasive species can be bad for the environment. There are so many problems created by exotic plants and animals. Like water hyacinth, it is pretty but also hazardous to the environment. And also giant salvinia, it grows rapidly taking over ponds, creeks, rivers really anything. Even though exotic plants are dangerous. They can be beneficial to some animals, and us. But we need them to stop growing so rapidly, or just not grow at all. Making herbicide that is chemical free and communicating with biologists from different areas are two solutions that will guarantee aquatic plants to have a positive impact on Texas ecosystems.

Exotic plants- Plants that are native to a different area but make their way to a different place and take over. Exotic plants although sometimes good for the environment but bad for other fish and plants because it takes the lake or river over and spreads rapidly. They are using herbicide on exotic plants that help it, but it has chemicals that harm other aquatic animals. Weevils are effective but, not working hard enough these are our solutions, but they are not working.

Making herbicide without any chemicals I think is a good idea because we can use it on any invasive species not just certain ones. Making chemical free herbicide is also one of the most natural ways of getting rid of invasive species. So you’re probably wondering how are we going to make chemical free herbicide. We can find the plants’ weakness and find something that can make the weakness of the plant like get in a place where we can get oils (that aren’t harmful to plants) and pour it on the plant. That’s just what I am thinking may work.

Communicating with other people from the native plants’ native home may work because we can see what they’re doing to prevent them. Like if we decided Giant Salvinia was the biggest problem, so we would contact a biologist in south America and see what they’re doing to stop it and share our ways of stopping it.
Now that you’ve heard the problems and a couple solutions do you think we can get Texas lakes back? Because I think we can. With help from other people we can definitely be better than ever.Maybe we can even stop invasive species. With these solutions (not just from me) but we could stop growth of invasive species maybe even stop them as a whole. We need to get Texas lakes and rivers back and keep our native animals safe.

Changing Lives One Speech at a Time

“Thousands of people have been killed by the terrorist millions injured I am just one.” Malala is very good at what she does she makes sure to get her point across so every girl can have a better life. She probably wouldn’t have stood up at all without support. And, would just be a regular Pakistani  girl but, her parents beleived the same things, so she made a difference. Malala is a girl from Pakistan who stands up for women’s rights and got shot by the Taliban for standing up for girls education. And without support from her parents she would be just a normal Pakistani girl.

It would be hard to stand up for what you believed in without support.  Out of an entire country saying that she was wrong but she didn’t listen to them and just focused on what she believed. Even though she knew it was dangerous she stood up for her country. Going through with doing a very dangerous job like standing up to the Taliban I can imagine that you would need support. Her parents and her dad’s friends really helped her at least thats what i think.

But she was doing very dangerous things for women’s education she had a risk every day that she took. On the other hand, some people did not approve of her and what she was saying but she tuned them out and focused on the people who did. She ignored the people calling her “un-islamic”  or else she would start to feel bad. But she never listened and she was right to because she would become vulnerable the Taliban and what they were saying.

Malala was being very risky presenting speeches and speaking her opinion, but she did it for all girls. So they would have a better life. Malala was very strong to be able to stand up for her rights and not back down. Especially her because she had a lot of reasons to back down. No matter what she did or what happened she still stood up for what she believed in.

Striving for Rights

Malala’s voice was heard because she wanted to make Pakistan a better place for girls and, make education safe for everyone. Malala wanted peace everywhere, and she will do anything to make that happen. “We were being heard we were making a difference and it felt good.” Did you know, over 30% of all girls in Pakistan don’t go to school and over half the adult population don’t have an  education. However, Malala is very mature but, at the time she was only 12 so she seemed bulletproof but she had feelings, and she was not completely untouched by what people said. Above all, Malala would act like she was fearless but she was just a little girl at the time and would get upset sometimes. Evidently, people would listen to Malala because she was striving to make Pakistan a better place for woman and make education safe. Malala is very courageous for standing up to the taliban so every girl would have rights. And that’s why Malala was heard everywhere.

Changing the World one Step at a Time

Education is important to Malala because it makes her feel free to do anything she can put her mind to. Malala enjoys going to school and being one of the top students. “School remained a haven from the insanity of a city in the middle of a war.” Initially, she has been one of the smartest girls in her school for a long time. And seeing the taliban threatening to take that away from her scares her. She wants to make Pakistan a better place. “Now I knew I would have to do something. I didn’t know what it was, but I prayed to God to give me the strength and courage to make the world a better place.” Malala wants girls to have rights and be able to go to school. But a lot of us in America take getting to go to school for granted. But we all need to see that going to school is a privilege not something that is just handed to you. Learning new things is vital to Malala because it makes her feel free to be, or do anything she wants to. And that is why education is important to Malala.

Communication or Technology

“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.” -Tony Robbins
Sometimes you feel like sending a quick text would be better than going all the way to the other side of the house and asking your mom or dad, but it’s sometimes better to ask them in person. While some differences between technology and talking are evident, the similarities are striking
when you’re communicating in person you get to see who you’re talking to but sometimes through technology you don’t know who it is.And if you are getting cyber bullied the bully could be unknown. One of my friends got cyberbullied once and she didn’t know who it was,so it took longer for the bulling to stop.Sometimes when you are talking in person you need to be careful what you say because the tone of your voice can change the entire sentence.

But another con to talking through technology is your friend or family member might not have their phone with them. When I sometimes go to text my sister most of the time won’t answer because she’s usually busy doing something else. Most of the time when she’s with a friend she won’t answer my texts.
The differences of talking in person and talking through technology are shown like a lot but some you don’t realize how different they are. One thing is how you text verses how you talk in texting you usually don’t spell out the entire word like you, instead of you most of the time you would put the letter u . When I am writing sometimes I find myself like writing u and ur and things like that. But you need to be careful when your doing that in texting because you can get to used to it and start writing like that and trust me I don’t really think that your teachers would enjoy that. Because on texting and talking you say different things.
Some differences are very evident the similarities are striking, and I feel like talking in person is better than technology.
Also with communication it is important to be able to talk to people correctly if you want to be able to have a job or basically do anything.

My sisters’ spine surgery 2016

On New Year’s Eve, I usually reflect on my year and what made it good or bad

But this year was pretty hard for me and my family. And when some news got to me it was very shocking.

May 2016 my sister Haley had spinal fusion. It was always a possibility that she would have it but it finally got done.

It is hard for her to be a normal teenager and also struggle with her back and everything else.

The day she had her surgery she watched her abilities fly away like dragonflies.

She had suffered scoliosis for two to three years and as her sister it is nerve racking to see her in so much pain.

But I know everything happens for a reason, and that Haley will recover and she will be able to do things a lot easier.

But, for now I will keep on coming up with some way to tease you about your back!

Literary Response

Sharon Draper in out of my mind gave melody and her parents’ characteristics that are common in other people. Also She gave melody and her parents great detailed personalities. When Melody thinks it’s exactly what I would think or say if I was in that situation,Sharon Draper made Melody very relatable.”And then there’s me I hate the stupid snowman” “It’s not only my lunch tray it’s my communication board” Her parents are protective but not too protective and also nice. They even kind of remind me of my parents. Also when Penny came she didn’t change at all she’s still nice and amazing. Melody is a great character. She is caring and kind. Her parents a great also, And that’s only a couple out of a million reasons why this book is really good. And finally that’s how I think that the characters seem like real people.
