Invasive species can be bad for the environment.There are so many problems created by exotic plants and animals. Like water hyacinth, it is pretty but also hazardous to the environment. And also giant salvinia, it grows rapidly taking over ponds, creeks, rivers really anything. Even though exotic plants are dangerous. They can be beneficial to some animals, and us. But we need them to stop growing so rapidly, or just not grow at all. Making herbicide that is chemical free and communicating with biologists from different areas are two solutions that will guarantee aquatic plants to have a positive impact on Texas ecosystems.
Exotic plants- Plants that are native to a different area but make their way to a different place and take over. Exotic plants although sometimes good for the environment but bad for other fish and plants because it takes the lake or river over and spreads rapidly. They are using herbicide on exotic plants that help it, but it has chemicals that harm other aquatic animals. Weevils are effective but, not working hard enough these are our solutions, but they are not working.
Making herbicide without any chemicals I think is a good idea because we can use it on any invasive species not just certain ones. Making chemical free herbicide is also one of the most natural ways of getting rid of invasive species. So you’re probably wondering how are we going to make chemical free herbicide. We can find the plants’ weakness and find something that can make the weakness of the plant like get in a place where we can get oils (that aren’t harmful to plants) and pour it on the plant. That’s just what I am thinking may work.
Communicating with other people from the native plants’ native home may work because we can see what they’re doing to prevent them. Like if we decided Giant Salvinia was the biggest problem, so we would contact a biologist in south America and see what they’re doing to stop it and share our ways of stopping it.
